Terms of sale and licence

Last updated 11 October 2026. Ratehaul is operated by [Trading name], a sole trader in Western Australia, ABN [ABN] ("we", "us").

1. What these terms cover

These terms apply when you download Ratehaul Australia Post Rates for WooCommerce Lite ("Lite") or buy a Pro licence ("Pro") from this site. By downloading or buying, you agree to them. If you are buying for a business, you confirm you can bind that business.

2. Licence grant

Lite is licensed under the GNU General Public License version 2 or later, the same licence as WordPress. You can use it on as many sites as you like.

A Pro purchase gives you a licence key and an entitlement, under these terms, to activate Pro's features with that key and to receive updates and support for one WooCommerce site (single-site) or five (5-site). A site means one WordPress installation at one domain, plus a staging or development copy of that same site. The number of sites is a contractual limit: neither the plugin nor our licence check counts sites. You can move the entitlement to another site by removing the key from the old one. The licence key is issued to you or your business. Do not share, resell or publish the licence key.

How this fits with the GPL. The Pro plugin's PHP code is, like Lite, licensed under the GNU General Public License version 2 or later, because it is derived from WordPress and WooCommerce. The GPL gives you the right to copy, modify and redistribute that code, and nothing in these terms takes that right away. What you buy with Pro is not the code alone but the per-site licence key, 12 months of updates and support, which are services provided only under these terms. Code you redistribute under the GPL carries no licence key, no updates and no support from us.

3. Updates and support period

A Pro purchase includes 12 months of updates and support from the purchase date. New versions are supplied through your Payhip purchase (a download link and an email to the purchase address); the plugin does not update itself. Updates and support both end 12 months after purchase. No renewal purchase is needed to keep using the version you have after that: Pro's features stay on for as long as your licence key remains valid and our licence check can confirm it (the privacy policy explains the check). We do not currently sell an extension of updates or support. We do not renew automatically or charge you again without you choosing to buy.

4. Price and payment

Prices are in Australian dollars and are shown on the pricing page. Payment is taken by Payhip, our checkout provider. You get the download link and licence key by email after payment. [GST placeholder: before the site goes live, state either that prices include GST or that GST is not charged because the seller is not registered for GST.]

5. Your Australia Post API key

The plugin needs an Australia Post PAC API key, which you obtain from Australia Post under Australia Post's own terms. We are not a party to that arrangement and we are not responsible for the availability, accuracy or pricing of Australia Post's API. Ratehaul is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Australia Post.

6. Rates shown to your customers

The plugin shows prices returned by Australia Post's API, adjusted by any settings you choose. You are responsible for checking the rates your store charges and for any difference between what you charge a customer and what you pay to post. The fallback flat rate is yours to set.

7. Australian Consumer Law

Our software comes with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. If a guarantee is not met, you may be entitled to a remedy such as a repair, a replacement, a refund or compensation, depending on the problem; the ACCC explains how these remedies work at accc.gov.au. This is a pointer, not a complete statement of your rights.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Refunds

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (section 7) apply regardless of anything in this section. Separately, as a voluntary promise: we do not offer refunds for change of mind on a digital download, but if Pro does not work on your WooCommerce site, you tell us within 14 days of purchase, and we cannot get it working after a reasonable chance to try, we refund the full price. If we refund Pro, we disable the licence key in Payhip and Pro's extra features switch off at the site's next licence check. Full details are in our refund policy.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, and subject to section 7, our total liability to you for anything arising from these terms or your use of the software is limited to the amount you paid us for the licence. To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of sales, loss of data or indirect or consequential loss. Where a guarantee cannot be excluded but liability can be limited, our liability is limited, at our option, to supplying the software again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.

10. Acceptable use

Do not use the software to break the law, to circumvent Australia Post's terms for its API. Your GPL rights to modify the code are not limited by this section, but a licence key, updates and support cover only the sites the licence is for. We may cancel a licence key that is being shared beyond the number of sites it covers, after telling you and giving you a chance to fix it.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do. Changes apply to purchases made after that date; the terms that applied when you bought keep applying to that purchase.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia and the Commonwealth of Australia. Any dispute is subject to the courts of Western Australia, without limiting your right to bring a claim under the Australian Consumer Law wherever you are in Australia.
